The Kevin de Bruyne revival didn't just benefit Manchester City; it benefited football 🙌:
It started when he signed for VfL Wolfsburg in 2014 after a rough six months at Chelsea, making only nine appearances under Jose Mourinho.
The Bundesliga club saw something Jose didn't and splashed out €21M on him 👀
He would go on to play 51 times for the German club, including:
▪️ 16 goals and 27 assists
▪️ DFB-Pokal champion
▪️ Bundesliga player of the year
▪️ Selected in the Bundesliga team of the year
These numbers saw his feet immortalised on the Walk of Fame at Wolfsburg's stadium and earned him his big money move to Man City, where the rest is simply football heritage... 👣❤️
Dear Cityzens, I want to be honest with you... the reason why I’m leaving is very simple: I still want to play football as often as possible, because that’s what I love the most. I’ll turn 35 soon, but I still feel very fit and I truly believe I can continue to perform at a high level for a Champions League team.
And not just that – I now have the opportunity to join my childhood favourite club, in a country that means so much to me.
Man City want a new beginning after an incredible era - something I can fully understand and respect. I will never, ever forget what this great club has done for me over so many years.
Most of my time here was absolutely fantastic and incredibly successful. The club and the city of Manchester will always hold a very special place in my heart.
I want to thank all my teammates, the chairman, everyone working behind the scenes, every fan – and of course Pep, who made this amazing time possible.
I’m leaving City with great gratitude - Thank you – on behalf of my whole family 🩵
Ederson’s message to #ManCity fans: “Thank you for making me feel at home in a city so far away from where I am from and for supporting me throughout what has been an amazing period for me and my family.
I arrived in Manchester eight years ago full of hope, but I could not have predicted such a beautiful time together.
Playing for City has been the most special time of my life and I will always be a fan of this special club. I’m going with my wife and children, but I’m leaving a big family here, Cityzens. Once a blue, always a blue.” 🩵

Transformed the perception of his position in English football, integral to Manchester City’s all-conquering style. One of a kind. Irreplaceable.
Thank you, @edersonmoraes93! 🩵
Since no one’s going to say it, I will.
Ederson was comfortably the best goalie in training today. Made some top-class saves, looked sharp, composed, and in full control. But of course, no one’s talking about that ‘cause you hate him.
Nine years ago today, Pep Guardiola joined #ManCity...

𝗢𝗨𝗥 manager. 👑
I don’t know where we would've been without Nunes.
I’d take him as my right-back if we fail to secure a better one. Feels like he’s picked up a thing/two in the areas he used to struggle: 1v1s, being too reactive in challenges, and managing space better.
One of the main reasons I fell in love with this sport
Been watching him since day one of joining the club
Made so many memories for Man City and me
Genuinely cannot be replaced with anyone
Thank you Kevin De Bruyne for everything 🩵
