What an incredible week we have had at #RHSChelsea. Thank you to Miria Harris for creating a beautiful & inspiring space. We are excited about the next chapter, it will be now be relocated to @LeedsHospitals where it will benefit stroke patients & their loved ones.
Did you see our Garden For Recovery featured on @BBCOne’s first #RHSChelsea programme this year? We are so excited for people to see it. Here is a photo of the garden’s designer, Miria Harris, enjoying a moment of calm in the garden before its opens for press day tomorrow.
I'm lucky enough to have arrived at Leeds General Infirmary in a Friday evening around 4.30pm and I received the treatment. I don't know how it what my recovery would have looked like had I not had it. I'm grateful I was one of the small % of stroke patients who have had it.
I've just seen that it was World Thrombectomy Day yesterday ...
Research suggests that 10% of stroke patients are eligible for thrombectomy, but only 1% of patients are currently treated with this procedure.
This means that around 9,000 people in the UK may be eligible for thrombectomy each year. The majority of these patients (9,140–9,620) present within four hours of the onset of the stroke and are eligible for intravenous thrombolysis.

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) causes 1 in 5 strokes.
❤️❤️❤️💜❤️
Symptoms often go unnoticed, and half a million people live with AF unknowingly. But checking your pulse for #StrokePreventionDay can detect AF and prevent a stroke.

Last week, I was pretty exhausted, more from the emotional side rather than the physical. This week, I was way more relaxed, definitely felt the buzz more and enjoyed myself more as well! Feedback & support have been so incredible! It's good to be back ☺️
Tomorrow will be the 4 yr anniversary of my stroke. Last Tues was a huge milestone for me ... I returned to teaching on a group exercise timetable for the first time since it happened.
Teaching was a huge part of my life up to having my stroke...
