News of @DollyParton transitioning to the other side marks a sad day for all of us, but especially for those of us from the South who saw ourselves in her life story. There will never, ever be anyone like Dolly Parton. She was proud of her simple upbringing, and she used her story to change the world for the better. I remember seeing this sculpture of Dolly back in 2020, when I lived in Nashville, and getting so excited. From one Southern girl to another, fly high 👑
We have people in our newsroom as young as 23 & older than 70. There was a collective gasp of dismay so loud as the #Dolly news broke on the wire that my office mate flung open our door in alarm. How many people touch the lives of Americans across 6 generations? RIP
Tonight, the Empire State Building tower lights will turn to a pink sparkle at 9:25 to honor the late Dolly Parton.
Dolly was a global cultural icon whose seven-decade career reached generations of fans. Beyond entertainment, Dolly leaves a significant philanthropic legacy through the Dollywood Foundation and Imagination Library, which has provided hundreds of millions of books to children worldwide.
At Nine-Two-Five tonight, we celebrate her and her legacy 💖

🚨🚨🚨A Pennsylvania teen and his mother face charges over the stabbing of his girlfriend and the disposal of her body. 18-year-old Royce Moser allegedly told police and his mother that a “demon” made him commit the crime.
Chilling images show the woman accused of plotting an ISIS-inspired bombing allegedly surveilling the New York State Capitol and buying materials for the attack.
The FBI says Jessica Bowie scouted the Capitol roughly five times. On Aug. 5, she allegedly went to a Home Depot in Rensselaer with $200 provided by a confidential source and bought materials she believed would be used to build the bomb.
She allegedly planned to hide the device inside a DoorDash bag and detonate it while state senators were meeting.
Bowie was arrested after allegedly taking possession of an inert gun and explosive device from undercover sources. Authorities say she also discussed future attacks targeting Times Square, the White House and the president.

NYC TAX BACKLASH: Seven New York residents have filed a lawsuit to stop Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s new second-home tax as homeowners and City Council members push back against the city’s rollout process.
Critics and City Council members slammed the administration during a three-hour public oversight hearing, accusing the city of a "botched rollout" after a list of nearly 1 million properties was published and 17,000 residents received warning letters. Opponents argue the process places an unfair burden on homeowners to prove primary residency and compromises privacy. Mayor Mamdani has defended the tax, maintaining that the revenue will fund vital public investments in cleaner parks and safer streets.
