SPOTLIGHT: STEPHEN DANYO (ELORM) - A PIVOT AT THE CCPTC
By Dr. (Med) Kofi Effah
He is better known as Elorm. Few know him as Stephen Danyo. He joined the Cervical Cancer Prevention and Training Centre (CCPTC) in Catholic Hospital, Battor in 2019. He has worked very hard and
him is not perfect. He sometimes overreacts, getting him into confrontations...
If Elorm continues to work this hard, soon he will outgrow the CCPTC. He may be poached by a bigger institution where he will have greater impact. It will be difficult to get a replacement for him I
After two weeks of intensive training (with an outreach at Kofikope Model Health Centre in Afienya in the Greater Accra Region, where over 130 women had 'free' cervical precancer and breast cancer screening), 16 health workers complete Module 1 of our programme.
More health workers are being released across Ghana in the fight against cervical (and breast) cancer.
You will not find this model of training anywhere in the world.
Dr. Emmanuel Atsu Dodor.

A new way - practical training to solve problems.
Hopefully in the coming years this will be adopted by Nursing and Midwifery Training Colleges across Ghana. It will be a giant step in the fight against cervical cancer.
First of two outreaches for our third year nursing and midwifery students
They came to us in their first, second and third years. They have been trained in cervical cancer prevention. Later this year they will graduate as nurses, but they are special because they have been
we have shown that nursing and midwifery students can be trained to offer cervical precancer screening. When they graduate they can offer cervical cancer prevention services wherever they are posted to in Ghana.
