OFFICIALS OF THE MONTH 📅
Join us in celebrating Alexandra Barrett and Ethan Stanwick, our Officials of the Month for October 2024! 🎉
Now in her third year of officiating, Alexandra works across all levels of the game with the Cape Breton Blizzard Female Hockey Association. 🏒
Her favourite part? Refereeing the Cape Breton Blizzard's young, up-and-coming players.
"They get so excited seeing a girl refereeing their games! I hardly remember ever seeing a female referee when I was younger, and maybe that’s why it took me so long to get into it. The young girls now see it from the beginning, so they know it’s something they can do, too!"
Ethan is in his eighth year as an official, bringing his expertise and experience as a referee at the Major U15 level and as a linesperson in the U18 Major league to the rink for every game. Beyond officiating, he gives back to the game by coaching at the Junior B level.
Proudly representing the Cape Breton County Minor Hockey Association, Ethan loves officiating because it keeps him connected to the game he’s so passionate about.
Thank you to Alexandra and Ethan for your dedication to hockey and congratulations on being the Hockey Nova Scotia Officiating Program's first Officials of the Month! 👏👏

A friendly exchange between two Nova Scotian captains 🥰
Thank you @loganshaw11 for your support! We’re so excited to be at the @TorontoMarlies game tomorrow and support the team 🙌
We don't often see Canada selecting under-20 players for their Worlds roster, so this is exciting.
To put Primerano's opportunity next spring into perspective, the last 18-year-old to suit up for Team Canada at the Women's Worlds was Marie-Philip Poulin in 2009 - 15 years ago.
No equipment? No experience? No problem!
For children between the ages of 6-10, the NHL/NHLPA First Shift could be the hockey program for you. 🏒
