@EdsenTheWeather This is exactly how I use AIFS ENS: early detection of important events and trends. The very cold night in Moldova (down to −21…−22 deg C locally) was detected earlier by AIFS than by IFS.
@EdsenTheWeather That's a pity.
How does WeatherNext 2 perform in forecasting 2 m temperatures compared to ECMWF AIFS? Is there a marked improvement at the medium range?
@ameliaUrquhart_@hunterhurleywx In October 2022, elevated light pillars were observed in the Russian city of Belgorod. Surface conditions were around 50/45.

@WxWiseApp Just noticed that screenshots taken in WeatherWise using the built-in Screenshot button have noticeably reduced quality. I'm using a Xiaomi 12X, and the images are only 392 px wide, compared to the original 1080 px width.
@MateuszTaszarek Impressive - thank you!
With the ECMWF real-time catalogue transitioning to open data this October, will automated convective outlooks also be available based on the EPS data?
@Djpuco The hail environment was captured quite well by the algorithms on https://t.co/jGm5aNhUvG!
I tried to check the hail reports on the same site, but they are unavailable, and the issue appeared around August 12. A fix would be greatly appreciated!
@CameronJNixon Chișinău, Moldova, August 9, 2022. ~80 mph gust measured by a private weather station. Widespread tree damage occurred in the northern part of the city with the most severe impact confined to an area about 0.5 sq. mi.
The reflectivities didn't exceed 60 dBZ.
@Djpuco The Moldova storm has been almost stationary for 1.5 hours, so heavy rain with localized flooding seems to be a certainty. Hail is also a risk, but with 4 km AGL freezing level it's somewhat diminished.
@Andreiwindstorm@Negaiss@Djpuco Romanian radar data are now available in Rain Viewer app under "PRO Radar" suite. Reflectivity, Doppler velocity, differential reflectivity, specific differential phase and correlation coefficient can be viewed at multiple tilts.
More apps/sites will likely follow soon.
A likely severe hailstorm is currently moving through the northern parts of Florești District, Moldova.
60+ dBZ reflectivities are reaching heights up to 8 km!
@Djpuco@Sausius_wx Not an expert in Bulgarian hail suppression system, but Yambol Province seems to be outside of hail protection coverage.
