@LionLandscapes With the allure of urban life drawing the rural youth to town, this is very helpful initiative so they go fully aware of the value of conserving their wildlife and mother nature
@kawiccoda and @CBNRMForum were privileged to host delegates to the RINaWa Technical Workshop on waste mgt & natural resources mgt facilitated by #SkyberryBotswana. The visit provided delegates practical insights into challenges & opportunities. @LeadersSouthern@africa_resource
@CsosAfrican There's an urgent need for a paradigm shift in the manner conservation funding is done; it can never be business as usual. It's time for govts and donors to build the capacity of local community organizations and not use their lack of capacity as an excuse to deny them funding
@CsosAfrican Unless there's a robust mechanism to get conservation funds direct to local communities, it's probably another just another party for the big international conservation NGOs (BINGOs). Landcruisers, fat salaries, pet projects, workshops in top notch hotels, and crisp reports.
@MalawiGovt I hope one of the issues to be discussed is promotion of bilateral trade in agriculture commodities thru transparent export licensing to curtail smuggling of Malawi maize and legumes, and earn the country the much needed forex. Our farmers will also benefit in higher prices.
The National CBNRM Forum is readying for an exciting learning visit to Namibia to be hosted by #CLNSecretariat. The 13-person delegation is keen to learn from their peers in #Namibia. At the top of the learning agenda are governance, business models, & benefit-sharing models.
The National CBNRM Forum is also keen on waste-to-manure solutions more so with the recent spike in fertilizer prices, and declining soil fertility and crops yields. With innovative waste-to-manure solutions, we can restore soil health and avert food insecurity
The National CBNRM Forum recently participated in a #SADC project inception workshop in Arusha on CBNRM capacity building and Waste Management. Building governance and management capacity of #IPLC organizations is key to delivering on the post 2020 GBF and SDGs
