Today, Dr. Daisy Gonzales, Executive Director of the California Student Financial Aid Commission, was officially inducted into San Diego Rotary Club 33. I was proud to be her sponsor along with Drs. Tina King and Laurie Coskey.

The celebration of life for the late Padres owner Peter Seidler was beautiful. I was honored to be among the speakers, noting Peter’s great support for the San Diego CCD “Promise “ program and the thousands of community college students who have benefited.
The national community college baccalaureate conference in Savannah GA is excellent, from Dr. Karen Stout’s keynote to great workshops and networking. I am so pleased and proud that California is part of this movement.
The San Diego CCD Board of Trustees and City College (thank you, President Ricky Shabazz) gave me the great honor of naming the beautiful Arts and Humanities Building after me. I am truly grateful and humbled.
Just leaving the rally for Toni Atkins’ announcement of her campaign for Governor of California. She would (will) be the first woman to hold this office, as well as one of the most experienced members of local and state-level government. Let’s do this!
I was honored to be a keynote speaker yesterday at the California Community Colleges Chief Instructional Officers conference in San Diego. The conference agenda was rich and I presented on the community college baccalaureate progress.
Yesterday, the Assembly Higher Education Committee (Mike Fong Chair, and Tri Ta, Co-chair) held a hearing at East LA College to discuss various community college issues. I was pleased to present regarding community college baccalaureate programs and progress.
The first day of the statewide Noncredit/Adult Education Vision 2030 pathways summit was excellent. SDCCD Continuing Education President Tina King, members of the CCC Board of Governors, CCC Chancellor Sonya Christian and others made great presentations.
With the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein, our nation has lost a great and visionary leader who believed in the principles of democracy and compassion for all people. She will be missed!
The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities has just concluded its 2-day meeting, with Chair Dr. Jill Biden & Co-chairs Lady Gaga and Bruce Cohen. Santa Rosa JC President Angelica Garcia is also on the Committee. What a great experience!
Yesterday’s conference of the San Diego Chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges was excellent. I was a keynote speaker along with Dr. Daisy Gonzales, and former and current Mesa College presidents Drs. Pam Luster & Ashanti Hands.
I was happy to join Drs. Pam Luster and Francisco Rodriguez today at the UC Davis Wheelhouse seminar for emerging community college leaders. This seminar was held at UCLA, and included community college vice presidents and vice chancellors.
I was honored to join Dr. Jerome Hunter today in a presentation at the U C Davis Wheelhouse retreat for African American community college CEOs in California. This was a wonderful symposium of deep conversations and strategizing.
