i'm in the new @Parapraxis_Mag on barbara johnson, that thing where people loudly complain about being silenced, lyric poetry, and my love-hate relationship with undecidability https://t.co/VX9M9RYHrz
.@FaniaMakaya writes about Alice Diop's award-winning film 'Saint Omer' (2022): "At the heart of this trial is whiteness in the French sense of civilization." Read the whole essay "'Saint Omer' and its Lexicons of Shadows" now on ASAP/J.

Only UC workers can weigh their options based on what you see on the ground. But very few at Columbia now regret our no-vote.
Here’s an example from Lilith. She *voted yes* on our first TA to preserve what we had won. She now sees it as the wrong choice. This is common here!
Union leadership is so confident in the tentative agreement that they hid the rows on the bargaining tracker that correlate to the proposals they dropped: Class Size, Anti-policing, Housing, International and Immigrant Scholar Support, Relocation Benefits, and Peer-led Training.
I cannot stress enough that the “historic” 12-month salary for UC grad student researchers two years from now is STILL lower than the lowest paid (9-month) student worker salaries at Columbia today.
You are even stronger than we were and can do so much better. Hold the line!
I reject the notion that the BT exhausted all avenues to achieve NRST remission. They have never entertain the idea of a long-haul strike that is sustainable.
With your theory of "power" and "future disruption," isn't future disruption increasing with time we can stay out?
For all the folks who follow me because I talk about right-wing social movements I want to break down some connections between my field of study and my observations of what’s happening in #UAW2865
Will be voting no on the “tentative agreement” on the wack contract that betrays academic workers in UC system. Despite what you hear or see, the most marginalized in the union have been abandoned by union leadership and are not going down without a fight. VOTE NO. #ucStrike
A tentative agreement between UC and UAW is out. I am planning on VOTING NO. Here is my reasoning:
1. there is no meaningful wage increase within this academic year. The wages scheme does not meet the urgent needs of many people (those who are at 25%, etc.);
The contract proposal the @uaw2865 and @sruuaw just tentatively agreed to will not address worker needs. It gives us a raise that’s enough to disqualify us for govt assistance programs and bump us to the next tax bracket, but not enough to cover those new costs.
