At the Norman Economic Development Coalition, we understand that there are multiple factors involved when it comes to successful economic development within a community.
One method we integrate into our economic development strategy is through business retention and expansion (BRE). As a core component for economic development, BRE is crucial for ensuring that existing businesses survive, and more job opportunities are created in the community.

Since the program began in 2001, we have had over 70 businesses in the program. Those business have employed over 764 employees with an annual payroll of $47.9 million and current updating indicates those number have increased significantly having an even greater economic impact.
Start-up 405 aims to help startup companies grow, prosper, and develop within the state of Oklahoma by providing a supportive environment and access to tools, resources, and technical assistance through tailored programming.

Thank you to all those who attended our Sooner Centurion and Community Leader luncheon last week! The day was filled with information from multiple community leaders and speakers. NEDC President & CEO, Lawrence McKinney discussed the draft of our strategic plan.

At Norman's city council meeting yesterday, NEDC President and CEO Lawrence McKinney accepted the economic development proclamation from Mayor Breea Clark and the Norman City Council. This proclamation recognizes May 9-13 as Economic Development Week!
