This week, Dr. Marker is at #ClimateWeekNYC – the largest climate event on earth. Hosted by the Climate Group (@ClimateGroup_US), the event brings together more than 100,000 participants and features over 1,000 events over several days.

Throughout the week, Dr. Marker will take part in conversations on financing #dryland restoration, regenerative food systems, community-led #conservation, and building climate #resilience. Today, fewer than 7,500 #cheetahs remain in the wild, and these cats face complex and compounding threats, including habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and the illegal wildlife trade. Across the cheetah’s range, climate change is exacerbating all of these challenges.

Keeping cheetahs in the wild means balancing the human and ecological dimensions of conservation, supporting the communities living alongside these cats, and protecting and restoring the landscapes both humans and wildlife rely on.

Non-releasable cheetahs still need plenty of exercise to stay healthy. That’s why, at CCF, we regularly run them using a mechanical lure system, and they love it! 🐆
