*We've been shortlisted!*
We are one of the finalists of the Model Based Engineering category at the @IETawards. This is based on our work looking Tailings Dam Failures using nonnewtonian fluids and our research into how this could be applied to improve public safety.
Next week we will be at @floodexpo so please come and find us if you'd like to see our latest innovations - especially with regards to flood compensation storage optimisation. We'll be showing some tech we've not demonstrated publicly before!
https://t.co/GL7veS40wO < a recent video demonstrating our reservoir mixing model capabilities - particularly good for studying bathing water standards and contaminant spreading/loading
We have modelled the Brazilian tailings dam failure using a Non-Newtonian large domain hydraulics solver. Not just a material slump, not like water. It is important to model it correctly! Risk planning saves lives. #Brumadinho

Terrible images and reports coming out of Brazil today about the tailings dam failure at a large mine. We've been working on non-newtonian dynamics to model failure of tailings dams. Understanding failures like this means better mapping, emergency planning, and risk management
Thanks black friday/cyber monday - latest PC build going ahead this week. We'll be upgrading one of our machines to a capable 16 thread, 32GBRAM, RAID 1 backup, 2x 1080Ti set up for use with our simulation work. Timelapse incoming
Spent the day learning the Google Places API and doing simulation post processing while sitting in front of the fire. It's a tough life being your own boss!
Had a great time at the @BritishDams evening meeting today at the @ICE_engineers in London. Nice to catch up with past and present colleagues, and to meet some new potential collaborators. Great presentation Ian/Billy!
These fires were pretty worrying when this Sentinel image was capture (Saturday) - will be interesting to see just how extensive they have become once new imagery is released #CampFire#MalibuFire
