Today I visited Hay River and Enterprise with @JustinTrudeau and @MMcLeodNWT. It was my priority to show the Prime Minister the catastrophic effects of this year’s wildfire season while he was in the territory, and we spent time in both Hay River and Enterprise to do so.

The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Implementation Act has received assent, a critical milestone in advancing reconciliation in the NWT. My heartfelt thanks to the Council of Leaders and to the officials who worked to advance this Act.

Congratulations to @WabKinew on his historic election win last night in Manitoba. The election of a First Nations provincial Premier in Canada is an amazing and long overdue milestone, and I commend the Premier-elect for his dedication in getting to this point.
