This relates to E&W, but we have heard terrifying reports of men on locked female psychiatric wards in Scotland. The reckless disregard for the safety of women is abhorrent.
It should be common sense thst male patients do not belong in female wards. 17 months on from the Supreme Court - it definitely shouldn’t be happening.
That’s why @DamianHinds and I have written to the NHS Trust in question.
Male patients do not belong in female psychiatric wards. Yet 17 months after the Supreme Court confirmed “sex” in the Equality Act means biological sex, this is reportedly still happening—even after serious concerns raised.
@joymorrissey and I are demanding urgent answers. 👇🏻

8 YEARS AGO TODAY: Pastor Paul Song is reinstated as a volunteer chaplain at Brixton Prison with the support of the Christian Legal Centre, as well as our petition which garnered over 43,000 signatures supporting his work.
Paul had his life-changing ministry at Brixton Prison shut down last year by a relatively-new Muslim senior chaplain, who said that he wanted to “change the Christian domination” in the prison and complained that the courses Paul used (including Alpha) were “too radical”.

Glory to God in the highest.
And our deepest thanks to everyone who stood with us for life and to protect vulnerable people.
“I also felt a responsibility to junior female colleagues who may not have believed they could object. Senior clinicians should be able to raise serious safeguarding concerns without being marginalised or treated unfairly."
