A sad day. Barry was one of hockeyβs most impactful voices and colourful personalities as a player, coach and analyst. Condolences to his family, friends and all who loved him in the hockey world.
Barry was my best friend at ESPN. A big brother figure of rock solid values. I am shook to my core. Barry gave his life to hockey and some of his ESPN family, like me, learned of his shocking death today while at a hockey rink in Las Vegas preparing for the upcoming season. Chilling and fitting--the rink was Barry's home. A more beloved ESPN institution there has not been. We love you, Barry. Forever.
The small town of Gander in the Canadian province of Newfoundland saw its population virtually double when U.S. airspace was closed on 9/11, grounding 38 international flights on an island in the Atlantic Ocean.
For five days, Newfoundlanders gave shelter and comfort to 7,000 stranded passengers and crew members. @conorknighton talks with Newfoundlanders who volunteered during the emergency, whose generosity to the "plane people" inspired the Broadway musical @wecomefromaway.
The Peter Maher Award says it all; sincerity, integrity dedication and respect. Peter was that along with a passionate high energy Hall of Fame call. Condolences to all who were impacted by Peter in the Calgary sports community.
It is with deep regret and sadness that the Calgary Flames organization acknowledge the passing of Peter Maher, the legendary voice of the Flames.

Saddened to hear of John McKeachieβs passing. All of us in sports media love our jobs but few relished his gig more than McKeach. Condolences to the entire BC sports community which he embraced and covered so well.
@KellyHrudey Hard to think of anyone in our business who has had a better Act 1 and 2. Wishing a great teammate the very best as he embarks on Act 3 in which we know he will shine. Cheers Kelly!
This was Lloyd Robertson's last TV send-off, on September 1st 2011. He's one of the news pillars who has shaped how I view the role of anchor. I think it's as important today as it was then.
Merci, Monsieur Robertson, et requiescat in pace.
@TerryDuguid Terry, my condolences to you, your family and your Dadβs many friends and fans. An iconic name in curling and broadcasting. Cherish the memories.
