This is the Landscape and Horticulture finished product. The jobs of a landscaper can range from planting flowers, maintaining landscape, etc. For the services provided, landscapers in the state of Maryland can make an average of 33K.
In order to make the waterfall, students placed a tube to the top of the waterfall. This tube allowed the water to travel to the top then makes it way down the waterfall. Once the tube was setup, students covered it with the dirt so it wasn’t visible to viewers.
Students of Landscaping and Horticulture worked to redo the atriums pond layout. The new atrium layout gives the pond more length while also providing a calming envrioment. Each of these changes are a wonderful addition to our schools atrium space.
As heavy as the hose can be from the ground, it only gets heavier when trying to operate it from heights. This practice helped students get comfortable with not only the weight of the hose but also the skill itself because when a real fire comes around every second matters.
On Day 2, Students covered basement fire. This practice involves 2 people feeding the hose into the burn building while the others were inside extinguishing the fire. This is a glimpse of what you could see from the window as the fire began to build.
Students of fire science attended the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. This trip gave students the opportunity to train at a high level in skills such as vehicle fires, basement fire, and using the hose while on ladder. Each of these skills are vital parts of the job.
Another skill performed was a foot wash. Foot washing is very important not only to maintain good hygiene but also to prevent other health issues. These health issues include your feet and back.
One of the skills performed was bedpan management. The importance of the bedpan management is to care for patients with infections while providing a high level of care. As you can see from this image, the student is preparing to place the bedpan under the patient.
Students of CNA/GNA completed a skills practice. These skills included bedpan management, washing patients feet, etc. Each of these skills are important steps towards certifications.
At the end of the year, Students attend a capstone gallery walk. The capstone gallery walk is a way for local businesses and community members to see students' work which can even potentially lead to job opportunities.
For those unfamiliar with capstone, capstone is a year-long project selected by each student. Students are able to choose any area of focus that peaks their interest as long as it pertains to their program.
Students of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Biomedical Sciences are working to complete what is known as their capstone project. The importance of these projects are to not only showcase all you’ve learned in your time at CCST but it is also a graduation requirement.
When treating a patient with an infection, Personal Protection Equipment is vital. Prior to the application of PPE it is important you sanitize your hands thoroughly. This step ensures the safety and well being of you as well as your patient.
In Addition to taking blood pressure, students practiced clothing patients with a paralyzed arm. In order to cloth the patient, students began with the affected arm. When it comes time to remove the clothing, it is vital that you start with the unaffected arm first.
Students of CNA/GNA practiced taking blood pressure. The steps are...
1. Sit with your back and arm supported
2. Keep your feet on the floor
3. Make sure the cuff is at heart level
Once you’ve completed these steps you should be able to get a proper blood pressure reading.
Giving back to our community is valuable. To continue our effort in helping Cecil County, we are excited to announce that the CCST FFA chapter is holding a "Warm Their Feet" Sock Drive for the various homeless shelters throughout Cecil County.
Once examining the rotor disc, students used an electronic digital caliper. The purpose of this tool is to help make accurate measurements of the width and depth. If the measurements show the disc isn’t thick enough then your vehicle will need new rotor discs.
Rotor Discs play a vital role in a vehicle's braking system. Once you press the brake the pads of the brake compress against the discs creating friction to make the car stop. If your rotor discs are not in good condition it affects your car's ability to properly come to a stop.
Automotive Students completed a Tire Removal. The purpose of this tire removal was to be able to examine the vehicle's rotor discs. The steps performed were...
1. Raise the Vehicle on the Car Lift
2. Use a Lug nut wrench to remove the lug nuts
3. Carefully remove the tire
