School's out, and a new chapter begins! CCSD93 5th graders have made one last trip through their elementary school halls and are preparing for middle school in 2026-27. These Heritage Lakes students were among those celebrated in clap-outs today. Happy summer!
Today is Step-Up Day across CCSD93 elementary & middle schools! Students are exploring next year's schools, classrooms & teachers, helping them feel confident, comfortable & ready to learn from day one of the 2026-27 school year. Pre-K also stepped up to K a few weeks ago!
Western Trails students stayed busy this past week! 3rd graders brought famous figures to life in a Living Museum, 4th graders ran a Business Bazaar to explore economics & 5th graders tackled STEM design challenges using physics & engineering concepts!

This week, Carol Stream School 4th graders explored electricity using snap circuits, circuit mazes, energy balls & energy sticks, thanks to special DuPage ROE resources! Students learned how energy flows and how circuits work, meeting key grade level science standards.

8th graders at both middle schools are celebrating the end of their CCSD93 journeys with a variety of fun events this week, including grade-wide breakfasts! Stratford 8th graders enjoyed theirs today, sharing camaraderie with classmates thanks to the generosity of the PTA!

This week at the ECC, our future kindergarteners are celebrating a big milestone at Preschool Graduation! We’re proud of how much these students have grown academically, socially & emotionally, and we’re excited to see them take the next step into kindergarten.

Field Day fun is underway! Today, students at Carol Stream, Cloverdale, Elsie Johnson & Heritage Lakes enjoyed games, teamwork, laughter & outdoor excitement hosted by parents & staff. Roy DeShane & Western Trails will celebrate next Friday!
Reminder: There will be no school on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day as we honor the members of the U.S. military who gave their lives in service to our country.
Yesterday was the Great Penguin Fling at Heritage Lakes! 5th graders worked in teams to design, build, test & refine devices to launch stuffed penguins across the gym. Categories included longest fling, shortest fling and most original design. Winning distance: 54+ feet!
Yesterday, Roy DeShane 4th and 5th grade Magnet students wrapped up their human body unit with a full hospital simulation! After researching body systems and becoming specialists through a series of assessments, students worked together to diagnose patients using their expertise.
Carol Stream kindergarteners have been learning what animals need to survive. On Friday, they had hands-on rotations using resources from the Morton Arboretum and IDNR. Students examined furs, x-rays and animal skulls while completing crafts that brought science to life!
Recently, Elsie Johnson welcomed children’s author Jennifer Hayes to the IC for 3rd-5th graders to learn about storytelling & the writing process! It’s a great example of how CCSD93 elementary schools connect students with authors to inspire a lasting love of literacy.
This week, Western Trails 2nd graders performed the musical “Hats” for peers, staff, parents & community members! Centered around all kinds of hats, the show shared an important message through song: who you are on the inside matters more than what you wear. Way to go, Wildcats!
