@CoffeeBlackMD The MCAT and entire testing scheme all the way up to board certification is a game that has very little to do with being special thinkers or being “blessed” or “called”. If you want a true meritocracy aimed at actually making good doctors we need a whole new system.
@rennaestubbs Comparing Jess and Emma to Venus and Serena is insinuating an even playing field. Wealth and privilege helps you in any arena. Period. This comparison is insulting to the extra, yes extra, work V&S had to put in to achieve what they did. Not even in the same stratosphere.
@rennaestubbs Acknowledging the advantage that wealth and privilege give you (in any arena) is not to discredit hard work. Two things can be true. They can work very hard and also benefit. Anyone can see that access to world class resources is an obvious advantage.
@IM_Crit_ Agree with the sentiment, but where’s the evidence? Active de-resuscitation hasn’t improved outcomes. Need a quality RCT.

@LaChinaRobinson Japan is packing the paint and US is trying to force it inside instead of taking the long ball or pushing it in transition. (Notice we finally scored by hitting the long pass in transition over the top)
Proud of this work. A privilege to work with this group @LuriePedSurg . Machine learning algorithms using Fitbit data detect complications after surgery up to 2 days before typical presentation to care #machinelearning#innovation@UCSF_EastBay
Measures derived from @fitbit + patient characteristics are used to train #MachineLearning models to detect abnormal recovery in children after appendectomy, with results supporting the use of remote monitoring for early detection of postop complications.

6 procedures from 2 subspecialties disproportionately accounted for the majority of all-cause revisits and emergency department-only visits for pediatric surgery. #Research https://t.co/yT0pmlBWEQ
