Greenock Morton are delighted to announce that Michael Garrity has signed a one-year contract extension.

Michael has made a total of 116 appearances since making the step up from the youth academy and has now agreed terms to remain at Cappielow until summer 2027.

@thetonman1874 Imo Ballantyne is the best tackling player at the club, Longridge probably the best defender. Ballantyne never shys out a challenge, rarely gets beat 1 on 1 and I'd back him in a 50/50 9 times out of 10, plays with his heart on his sleeve which is something we need in the squad

Unfairly had to fight for his position under Imrie this season and struggled to get it back for some reason before Murray came in. Probably the 2nd on my list for a new deal so delighted with that. Defence starting to look a pretty solid base

@thetonman1874 Looking at only GD u would say yes but have to keep in mind how much this defence has changed and the fact they have had to adapt to 4 new styles of football and 8 different centre half partnerships. Ballantyne, Longridge and Moore are 3 top class championship defenders
