18. My favorite number not only because it’s my birthday, but also because I saw my dad kick everyone’s butt in it almost every week growing up. I wanted to be just like him and I chose to race it when I started racing. While I wanted to be like him, he wanted me to be better than him. He taught me everything he knows, worked on my cars, spotted for me, and even raced against me 8 times while he drove the 8. He beat me more than I beat him, but he knew the score would be in my favor sooner rather than later. I know he is proud of me. 8.18 is a reflection of him and what he instilled in me. Every race is for him.
Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond. Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR’s stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry. No one can carry it forward to the level that he did. The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing.
Here's one for ya: I asked @chaseelliott about the topic of the week with the NASCAR championship format debate, and he endorsed full-season points.
Chase: "We've had a really good and competitive battle to the regular season (championship) over -- correct me if I'm wrong -- the last two or three years. It's really been pretty tight all the way down to Daytona.
If you just take that as your sample set over the first 26 weeks, it looks pretty solid to me.
The system would be just fine if you just had a full season. And if somebody runs away with it, so what? Let's celebrate the fact that somebody ran away with it, that somebody was just that good.
Motorsports does not have to be like everybody else to be successful. And I'll stand by that til I get done."
