@Cait_Niamh Me too! Very first history seminar at Nottingham I plucked up the courage to speak, bloke (obvs) brazenly said “I can’t understand what you’re saying because of your accent”. I felt really ashamed of my accent and thought I’d have to change it to get anywhere in life 😢
I’m signing off with a feeling a pride tonight. The superstars of this nation lie in local communities. Even after taking the biggest hits you have wrapped your arms around your community to catch children as they fell. I really can’t thank you enough, you’re amazing ♥️
The government is treating the North with Contempt. If I were West Yorkshire Mayor today I’d be stood shoulder to shoulder with @AndyBurnhamGM - Ministers cannot continue to run rough shod over the North

I will never understand why employers will move heaven and earth to keep a serial sexual harasser in employment, move them to different department, change their job role and title, only for them to do the same to other women.
What do they expect will happen?
Just DISMISS him
A friend in #Lesbos tonight described the fire that has destroyed the #Moria camp as "a tragedy of epic proportions".
I have written tonight to @pritipatel
to ask her to urgently offer safety to unaccompanied child refugees who have lost everything and desperately need our help
Worth remembering that the A-level fiasco wasn’t handled badly only by politicians/officials in London. Every capital (and maj party) in the UK basically made the same mistakes and didn’t appear to ask basic questions from first principles about what the standardisation might do.
Hey @PritiPatel we think the real crisis is our lack of humanity for people fleeing war, climate change and torture. We pulled together a thread for you..
We at @rightsofwomen are joining unions and women’s organisations calling for the MP accused of rape to be immediately suspended
This is exactly what other employers do & will NOT risk the victim’s anonymity as the usual restrictions on publishing apply

My heart breaks for Beirut. Thinking of everyone in this magical city tonight. Pics taken about 3 years ago to the day... beautiful memories of a wonderful place ❤️💔 please donate to the amazing grassroots NGO @sb_overseas if you can x
Victoria station early today: all women young and old and all over-40s wearing masks, virtually none for young men. Any 2nd wave may be down to man-spreading
