In total in 2020, 105 species of bird were seen on Hampstead Heath including: Crossbill, Cuckoo, Marsh Harrier, Mealy Redpoll, Pied Flycatcher, Ring Ouzel, Hawfinch, Golden Plover, Firecrest, Bullfinch & many others! Well done everyone!🥳 (will add the full summary to my blog)
A few of todays Leach’s Petrels a nice lifer from today in a brief 1-2pm seawatch. One possible Euro Storm Petrel & a single Brent also. New patch is coming along quite well
A solid two days of migration on Hampstead Heath which has included Pied Flycatcher, 5 Common Redstart, 4 Tree Pipit & 2 Spot Fly personally. Overall we had 8 Redstart all together yesterday!
@HarringayBirder I agree rarity doesn’t mean much. The bird is just incredible in every way, way better than I expected it to be. Rarity or not it’s still one of my favourite birds I’ve seen in the UK
Birding kinda fell apart after September this year but still managed a decent year with 90 something species locally & 166 overall with White Tailed Eagle, Glossy Ibis and self-found Grasshopper Warbler & Black Redstart among the highlights,
