𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, if you’re building a fintech app, tell your AI this 𝗕𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘 you even think about deployment:
𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗬 𝗙𝗟𝗢𝗪
• Never use floating-point numbers for money. Use integer minor units or a proper decimal type.
• Use a proper ledger for every movement of money. Don’t make one mutable balance field your only source of truth.
• Make every money-moving request 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 so retries, double-clicks or network issues cannot create duplicate transactions.
• Handle concurrency properly so two withdrawals hitting the same account at the same time cannot spend the same money twice.
• Verify webhook signatures and safely handle duplicate, delayed, replayed and out-of-order webhooks.
• Never trust the frontend to tell you a payment succeeded. Verify it server-side with the payment provider.
• Enforce authorization server-side on every account, transaction and resource.
• Keep API keys, database credentials and other secrets out of the frontend and your repo.
• Add rate limits and sensible transaction limits to login, OTP, transfers, withdrawals and other sensitive operations.
• Keep an audit trail of important financial actions without logging passwords, tokens or sensitive payment data.
• Add reconciliation so your ledger can be compared against the payment provider or bank and discrepancies can be detected.
• Design transactions so timeouts, crashes and failed dependencies cannot leave money in an unknown state.
Then tell it:
𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.
𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗧𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞 𝗜𝗧
→ Send the same transfer 10 times.
→ Send 20 withdrawals against the same balance simultaneously.
→ Send the same webhook repeatedly.
→ Send a webhook with a fake signature.
→ Send webhooks out of order.
→ Kill a worker halfway through processing.
→ Simulate the payment provider timing out after taking the money.
→ Simulate the database failing halfway through a transaction.
→ Log in as User A and try accessing User B’s transactions.
→ Test ₦0, negative values, absurdly large values and malformed amounts.
→ Retry requests after timeouts.
→ Restart the application while a transaction is processing.
Then reconcile your ledger against the provider and make sure 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 ₦𝟭 is exactly where it should be.
𝗕𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗬 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧
Run dependency, secret, static and API security scans.
Test everything with your payment provider’s sandbox/staging environment.
Set up monitoring and alerts for abnormal transactions.
Get someone who actually understands security to review the critical flows.
And if you’re handling card data or operating an actual financial product, understand the PCI and regulatory requirements that apply to what you’re building.
𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚:
Don’t ask:
𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘦, 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘱𝘱 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦?
Ask it to prove specific properties, then try to break those properties yourself.
If one duplicate request, race condition or failed dependency can make ₦1 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿 or 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗲, you’re not ready to deploy.
If the Ikweres, the Ndonis, Ndokwas, Ikas, Ogbas and others who bear Igbo names say they are not Igbos, and yet they bear Igbo names.
Then it must be that they were colonized by the Igbos before the arrival of the white man. And this even makes more sense.
I am truthfully just discovering today that: Anambra state has a common boundary with Rivers state.
Jesus!! Nigeria is not a real Country.
And aboriginal Igbo lands that should have taken Imo state to the Niger River, were cut off and joined to Rivers state.
Nna Menh!!!!!
This is a very common phenomenon with colonization which I think we ought to explore.
Names such as Mark (from Latin Marcus), Anthony (from Latin Antonius), Paul (from Latin Paulus) etc are all British/English names derived from Latin as a result of Roman colonization.
This is an Open appreciation post to Jesus.
2008, a young boy left Asaba for Abuja, just before the 505 Peugeot Wagon could leave Uromi junction in Agbor, my father who was already in serious tears…
Around June this year my startup needed an e-mascot that would serve as the face and influencer for the brand.
So we went to hire a freelancer for the gig. Omo! These guys were calling thousands of dollar.
One guy from Tanzania, who happened to be the cheapest we encountered was offering to build one for $1,000, 50% Upfront, to build and manage for just one month.
Wasn't a bad deal tbh, but considering we're on budget, I decided it's best we build in-house while keeping checks on quality.
So we bought a course on how to do it for $360
Despite having the course and paying for a handful of AI tools, we still struggled in some aspect (because we are insistent on excellence).
Building AI influencers is a high paying emerging market and would greatly reward those who jump in soonest.
So I packed all the lessons I learned and packaged it as a PDF, and I'm giving it away for free.
To get it, comment 'VIVA', repost and follow and my AI agent will send it to your DM.

Thank you so much! ❤️
My journey into tech started at Learn Factory.
When I was desperately looking for an internship and others said NO to me, you said YES. Even though I didn’t meet all the requirements to join, you still gave me a chance.
That one YES changed the trajectory of my life, and I will never forget it. Thank you for believing in me when I was just starting out. ❤️
And if you’re in Abia State and you want to learn how to code, please go to Learn Factory. I am living proof of the impact they can have on someone’s journey.
Sometimes, all someone needs is one person willing to give them a chance. ❤️
In Umuahia and at age 7 when my twin sister and I will burn candles and study all through the night, Neighbours will say “"Ụmụaka a, gịnị ka unu na-eme? Unu ka na-amụnye kandụl n'abalị a, unu na-aga Cambridge ka ọ̀ bụ gịnị?" Which translate to “why are children burning candles this late night, are they planning to go to Cambridge”. If you are a Nigerian you understand what this means; a symbol of academic heights that seems impossible to achieve.
But guess who is matriculating from the university of Cambridge today? Not me 😀 but my twin sister Jennifer.
I am super proud of my twin sister Jennifer as she matriculates from the university of Cambridge, pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience.
No dream is too big for God
With what Alex Onyia @winexviv is doing in the South East, we really should be expecting a massive harvest of continental and global industry disruptors.
Super proud of you @icukaegbu
1) I am a proud father today.
The young woman behind Lagos Life, the phenomenal game that pulled in over 2 million players in its first days, started her tech journey in our nondescript training room in Aba, Abia
Her name is Shalom. This is her story & ours.
