Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan filled out the self-enumeration form online for Census 2027, at Uprashtrapati Bhavan today.

Census 2027, undertaken in alignment with the Government’s Digital India initiative, leverages extensive digital technologies to enhance the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of data collection and dissemination.

The Vice President encouraged all residents to participate in the self-enumeration process and submit their household details online during the period notified by their respective State/UT through the official web portal: https://t.co/pXVToyYq0E

The Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, Shri Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, was present during the enumeration procedure.

Notification of questionnaire of Phase I of Census of India 2027 - Houselisting & Housing Census has been issued. The questionnaire for Phase II i.e. Population Enumeration will be notified in due course.

भारत की जनगणना 2027 के प्रथम चरण - मकानसूचीकरण और मकानों की गणना हेतु प्रश्नावली की अधिसूचना जारी। द्वितीय चरण अर्थात जनसंख्या गणना की प्रश्नावली यथासमय अधिसूचित की जाएगी।

A Conference of Chief Secretaries of States/UTs, State Census Nodal Officers, Senior officers from MHA, and Directors of Census Operations, on #Census2027 was held today in New Delhi. The Union Home Secretary, Shri Govind Mohan chaired the conference in the presence of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India (RG&CCI), Shri Mritunjay Kumar Narayan; Additional Registrar Generals, Shri Sunil Kumar and Shri Sanjeev Kumar; Deputy Director General, Shri Biswajit Das and senior officers of ORGI.

Welcoming the participants, the RG&CCI described #Census2027 as a historic National exercise and outlined its overall preparedness. He briefed on the usage of the digital tools in the ensuing Census including introduction of Self-Enumeration.

Addressing the conference, the Union Home Secretary highlighted the long and rich tradition of Census in India while emphasizing the pivotal role of State/UT Governments in the successful conduct of #Census2027. He urged States/UTs to ensure timely appointment and training of Census functionaries, republishing of Notifications, avoiding any jurisdictional changes up to 31-03-2027, effective use of digital tools including Self-Enumeration and a focused publicity & communication approach to build public awareness, trust and participation to achieve the full objectives of the Census 2027.

The Home Secretary also sought cooperation from the Chief Secretaries to regularly monitor and review the Census related activities in the States/UTs.

A 5-day Training of the first batch of National Trainers for Phase I of #Census2027 i.e. Houselisting & Housing Census (HLO), was held from 05-01-2026 to 09-01-2026 at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. The Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India, Shri Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, described the programme as the beginning of a responsibility entrusted to the participants and emphasised their role in ensuring effective Census operations. The programme was concluded in the presence of Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Addl. RG, Shri Sunil Kumar, Addl. RG, Shri Biswajit Das, DDG, and other senior officials of ORGI.
