Kimchi, our female African pygmy goose, has been chosen by staff as our Animal of the Month!
Her species is the smallest waterfowl in the world, native in sub-saharan Africa. She can be viewed along with the male, Sauerkraut, in the shared bird habitat when you first enter.
🦥 Here’s a closer look at the marks on Phantom's belly mentioned last week, which were present when we first accepted the sloths into our care. Wildlife traffickers will often use spray paint to mark animals for identification before shipping and selling for profit.

This just in: Our two newborn fosa kits have been spotted with open eyes!
Fosa babies are born completely blind, only opening their eyes for the first time after 2-3 weeks. In the wild, they are very dependent on their mother for the first few months.
