If I knew nothing else about a certain faith except that its adherents fight to get people not to test their doctrine against scripture, I would have everything I need to know that the faith is counterfeit.
#SolaScriptura
I don't think that's the "Trinitarian" aka the Christian argument. The Christian argument is this:
The Bible says there is only one God
The Bible says the Father is God
The Bible says Jesus is God
The Bible says The Holy Spirit is God
Therefore the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are the one God.

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him."

Sola Scriptura is self-evidently true.
Bishop Cyril of Jerusalem (AD 338)
"No doctrine concerning the divine and holy mysteries of the faith, however casual, may be taught without the backing of the holy Scriptures. We must not let ourselves be drawn aside by mere plausibility and cleverness of speech. Do not even give absolute belief to me, the one who tells you these things, unless you receive proof from the divine Scriptures of what I teach. For the salvation that flows from faith derives its power, not from clever human reasonings, but rather from the demonstration of the holy Scriptures."
-Catechetical Lectures, Lecture 4, Chapter 17.
@Latterdaytruth Joseph Smith was a con man, and the clearest example of a false teacher and false prophet that ever existed. And it is a real tragedy that so many have allowed themselves to be led astray despite all of the warnings this would happen. Leave this false faith before it's too late.
Colossians 1:15-17
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Genesis 1:26-27
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
My source for God's plurality is scripture, not leftist garbage.
As you alluded to you're using phrases that could be interpreted loosely depending upon what angle we're coming from to make your point. Let's stick to the clearest, least ambiguous passages.
1. We are saved by grace through faith, not by works, so that no one may boast (Ephesians 2:8–9).
2. Faith without works is dead (James 2:17, 26).
Those two statements are both true. Therefore, works cannot be what save us, because scripture explicitly says they don't. At the same time, the faith that saves can't remain alone, because scripture says faith without works is dead. The only conclusion that harmonizes both passages is that we are saved by faith alone, but the faith that saves is never alone. It's always accompanied by works.
The problem is you can't make up your own concepts if you truly value the Bible. The scriptures make clear that there is only one God and no other gods have ever existed or ever will exist. There's no way around that. If you believe that other gods exist or will exist you're calling God a liar.
It's only a contradiction if you reject the Bible which I would say you have to do to believe in other real gods. The Bible makes clear in numerous places that no other gods exist. There is only one. It also makes clear that God created the heavens and Earth by Himself. It also makes clear that Jesus created the heavens and the Earth. It clearly says Jesus is God, and clearly says there are no other gods but the one. To reject this is to reject the Bible.
@DavidNo93@BishopJaxi Sola Fide means faith alone is what saves you. This is true. The part that saves you is the God-given faith. But true faith that comes from God is always followed by works and love. Works don't produce salvation. Salvation produces works.
1 John 2:19 which is written by John as well describes people who departed: "they went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us." John himself supplies the argument that visible departure is evidence the attachment was never of the genuine, abiding kind.
If you're going to say that "in me" means they had true faith then you have to say that "from us" means they had true faith too. This is a weak approach. Why not interpret scripture in light of what is clear instead of making assumptions from metaphors?
James 2:17 – "Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
At the same time:
Ephesians 2:8–9:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
So we know faith is a gift not from us and we know that works doesn't save you, and we also know that faith without works is dead. This is how we can know that only the real kind of faith -- the one given to you by God, can save you. By necessity works have to follow it since it's real because God gave it to you. This is self-evidently rock solid based upon scripture unlike assumptions derived from metaphors.
Works are not what saves you. Faith is. But true faith is always accompanied by works.
Think about how asinine it is to believe that someone truly has faith in Christ but has no desire whatsoever to obey Him. That is a fictional faith. Anyone who finds themselves in that situation is pretending or doing it as a fad or to please others. You can't possibly have faith in Christ and not have a desire to do what He says. This is why true faith is always followed by works.
