The portfolio company is a means to an end- that end is generating returns for their Limited Partners.

The LP is their customer.

If you understand this and filter everything through that lens, their actions will make more sense.

Often, you will be perfectly aligned. In fact, most of the time, you probably will be.

But every once in a while, you will scratch your head.

Remembering this reality has explanatory power in those situations.
