Hopping back on this app to share some work I’m quite proud of, where we used community-based participatory air, symptom, and odor monitoring to document pollution episodes in a fenceline community in Pascagoula, MS: https://t.co/O0hjpybarl
The Suncor Refinery in Commerce City, CO, is stalling on environmental compliance. I wrote an op-ed with @350Colorado Lucy Molina on why we need to keep up public pressure to hold them accountable. https://t.co/gaAPXFwKLq
. @EPS272 there are so many screenshots and stories shared by former students full of warning signs about hollenbeck. I hope you take this and make better protocols for catching this behavior much earlier. Young girls shouldn’t be the only ones looking out for the red flags💔
Took the pods out to the NCAR burn area with some Pathways to STEM students today. I was blown away by how much they accomplished in their Research in a Day projects. Now I feel so slow on my Research in a Few Years project 😅
Happy pride! We hosted our first CEME (committee for equity in mech engineering) pride party today and I learned button making might be my true calling @CUEngineering@CUBoulder
And while I knew the reality of how starkly different the drill sites are in west LA, it was still wild to see the structures enclosing the wells there with my own eyes. 2/2
Beautiful art disguising an oil drill site in LA. Visually, it was impossible to tell what was behind the walls, but the smell was a bit more revealing. Really looking forward to setting up our low-cost sensors here soon. Now back to Boulder! 1/2
#ASIC2022 is a wrap! So nice to meet other grad students who are just as passionate about air quality & EJ. Hoping to start a grad student network to stay in touch, so tag your pals @HelenaPliszka@rahejagarima@PronouncedYan @ SoManyMore !!
Lightning talk at the first day of #ASIC2022 about my poster on source apportionment in Greeley and Commerce City, CO. Both communities showed similar six factors, and both were dominated by oil & gas sources. Lots more to learn & people to meet these next two days :)
Sitting on my (very delayed) flight to CA feeling excited about all the great people I’m about to meet at #ASIC2022. I’ll also spend a few extra days connecting with folks in the South LA community where we’ll soon set up a network of LC sensors 🤩 stay tuned for photos!
