In the late 1970s, 11 babies died of SIDS in one area of Tennessee. They'd had the same vaccine from the same batch. Wyeth's (now Pfizer) response was to stop sending a single batch to a single area, instead splitting batches so no clusters could be noticed again.
@JeanPGelinas@BeachLowry@medeabenjamin Personally never been in one. Incidental contact doesn't rise to criminal intent whereas beating someone up would. But it's still generally unwanted contact. That's why we used to be taught to keep our hands to ourselves.
@turn3685@Alaskacryptogi1@medeabenjamin I am winning because I have nanners and don't invade people's private space. Leave your hands to yourself. Don't touch people nor take their possessions without consent.
@ZarkZark17@BeachLowry@medeabenjamin I don't know either way. I don't know what led up to this or any other details. If consent was given, no assault. If consent wasn't given, then it would be assault.
@turn3685@Alaskacryptogi1@medeabenjamin A friend of mine gave me a hug yesterday. I didn't give her permission ahead of time. Technically that is assault. But I am not going to put someone in prison over it.
@turn3685@Alaskacryptogi1@medeabenjamin It's not confusing. People can tell the difference even though the law defines it broader to cover everything. So this incident while assault was due more to being antagonistic rather than criminal intent. So no fine or jail. But she needs to mind her manners.
@JeanPGelinas@BeachLowry@medeabenjamin That is why we distinguish between incidental brushing and punching, kicking, shoving. Why was she following or walking alongside Anna to begin with? Was it related to the committee hearing? So in summary, she needs to use better judgement in her interactions. But no jail/fine.
@turn3685@Alaskacryptogi1@medeabenjamin I had several occasions this past week involving bumping into each other at church, store,a female friend gave me a hug and an unknown woman at Sam's Club touched my shoulder to say she liked my 250th year/Independence Day shirt. Didn't give consent ahead of time. But no crime.
@turn3685@Alaskacryptogi1@medeabenjamin So it's clear that assault happened. But not to the level of criminal intent. So no jail or fine. But the judge should tell Medea to take a breather.
@JeanPGelinas@BeachLowry@medeabenjamin Technically correct given how assault laws are written. Any physical contact without consent is assault.
So applying it to the world at large, it is then measured by degree and intent.
