@mattyglesias Not quite. Language policy was a huge part of crafting the charter but the language in 15(2) is quite clear, and the section has consistently been used to uphold things like race-based sentencing in criminal trials and blatantly discriminating against whites in hiring.
Reeves and Brooks certainly are gentlemen. However, Chris Williamson is a slop-generating bro who is very much a part of the manosphere and frequently elevates many of its clowns.
The struggles of boys and men are real. Many will say that those truly addressing the problems are part of the “Manosphere” to dismiss us, but no. I call this the “Manosphere smear.”

I keep seeing this take and really hate it.
People were isolating via screens well before our current economic circumstances.
COVID accelerated this, and most never returned from the digital realm.
Solving issues of affordability will not make everyone suddenly pro-social.
Even in the setting of a just war — which this war is absolutely not — I would find such puerile, callous zeal for killing stomach-turning. We are led by truly sick people with no decency and little regard for human life.

This photo is just so damn bittersweet. I have so much pride in being an American, no matter how bad things get.
Nonetheless, things are indeed very bad, and it fills me with as much melancholy as it does pride.
If you are worried about the rise of AI - taking your job, sucking up all the energy / water, bombarding your kids with online slop, amplifying 'the machine', destroying humanity... - probably the most tangible thing you can do is to resist data centers coming into your community
Not since the Soviet Union abolished itself have we seen anything that compares with Trump's desrtruction of the American republic. It's like watching a country commit suicide
There is a deep anti democratic thread within the tech community and they truly think they are so fucking smart that they know what is best for us all.
I have been away from Twitter for a while because of its intensifying nastiness. But I must share this essay by @sullydish, which lays out a vision of a liberal society, and explains how Twitter and current moral passions are pushing us away from it.
