[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

On Friday I was a guest host up in Sacramento, 6-10 am, on Sactown Sports 1140. Naturally we rolled into some college football talk. With the transfer portal and NIL front and center right now, here’s how that topic went.

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

Jumping on Broeske and Musson to discuss the new Friday CGP!

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@SomeRndmGuyUT Yes sir! For better or for worse! 😎👊🏻

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

Also, the program will be re-broadcast Saturday mornings 10:00 am. Your calls - always welcomed! [phone] and [phone].

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@channing865 @TheChadWithrow No doubt. A lot of crowd noise certainly has to do with the opponent, what’s the situation (playoff implications), etc. But peak conditions, I’ve not heard any louder than Neyland.

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@LALcogop @TheChadWithrow Well said. And accurate. Being on the sideline once during a game, the waves of sound that hit you — not only do you hear it, you feel it. When you’ve been down there, you never forget it.

NEW: Tennessee set the highest scientifically verified dB record in College Football history against Alabama on this play (130.3), the school announced.

@ByMikeWilson As soon as I saw it, the image gave me a Gladiator vibe. Something about the one playing to the thousands.

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

I’m biased as a broadcast journalist but something simple like this, a powerful image with appropriate words from someone who fully understands the depth of a story... Local sports journalism matters.

I always tell listeners: Love, hate, agree or disagree, engagement is key.

[Mike Wilson @ByMikeWilson]

As Tennessee fans descended down Neyland Stadium, a single fan climbed.

They stood in triumph, silhouetted by the video board declaring the good news: Vols Win.

@justavolgirl Bama Bucks. 🤣

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@TopTierVols 100%. 🎯 Good call.

By the way, I’m just a local media outlet in California but I had it 28-24 Big Orange. I didn’t respect our D enough!

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@NCalebWard 100%.

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

Took a peek at the SEC standings, stats, etc. Didn’t realize the Vols are No. 1 in fewest points allowed both in conference games and overall among SEC teams. Some numbers are misleading. This one isn’t.

Jim Knowles gameplans.
Players executing at a very high level.

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@ChildersRadio @TimBrando Well done, Chris! I grew up in Rogers Park. A proud Chicago kid but half my family came from Tennessee and Georgia. The SEC has been in my blood since first seeing Neyland well before capacity expansions. Best perk of my job, and yours: Getting to cover classic games. Go Vols.

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@oldmandavid17 @RuralVol RV, David makes a very fair point. When you look at most (not all) years, this is one of those weeks that separates good from very good/great teams. That said, I believe the Vols win because defense travels, OL adjustments have been made since Texas and G-Mac has settled in.

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@YankeefaninTenn @susanmariie Wonderful news, James!

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@Jthomp72 @orduhnaryy Miles Kredich. He’s based in Chicago. Stroke of brilliance. https://t.co/GLEAqcYf6G

[Aaron Hayden @Ran4UT]

CG! Program changing road game! 1st season under Hype where we’ve owned the trenches on both sides versus the TrenchU Monsters UGA or Bama! Now can we get right back up take Neyland there and own the box like we did against Bama. Do we truly believe we’re back!TrenchVols🍊💪🏽

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

@SomeRndmGuyUT W or L?

[Christopher Gabriel @CGProgram]

Fans concerned going into South Carolina this week. Mine is no more or less than any other road SEC game. So I defer to the proper mentality from my good friend and elite VFL, @Ran4UT. He said this on my program two years ago and it applies this week going to Columbia.
