Good meeting today with Conor Coleman, head of investment of Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and Ambassador Darryl Nirenberg @USAmbRO on investment priorities and the economic dimension of our strategic partnership 🇷🇴🇺🇸

We discussed the strategic role of our country at regional level and the Black Swan as a nodal point for transport and energy corridors, the potential of the Constanta harbour as a regional hub, including for the reconstruction of Ukraine, underlining the consolidation of the Black Sea - Danube corridor, given the developments in the operation of the Giurgiulesti Harbour.

Today, Ukraine's European path moves forward. We have officially opened Cluster 1 (Fundamentals) in Ukraine's EU accession negotiations, after the process had been held back for nearly two years.

Warm congratulations to President @ZelenskyyUa, Prime Minister @Svyrydenko_Y and Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration @taraskachka and, above all, to the people of Ukraine, who continue to pursue their European future under the hardest possible conditions, while resisting Russia's war of aggression.

This is a merit-based step, earned through reforms carried out in the middle of a war in a spectacular proof of resilience and hope.

All EU countries supported today the opening of these negotiations and will continue to actively back Ukraine's European integration.

The momentum must continue: all remaining clusters should be have opened negociations as soon as possible as the proper dialogue platform to assess reforms.

We welcome the Minority National Plan and its focus on education.

Romania welcomes the continued advancement of Montenegro’s EU accession negotiations, including the provisional closure of chapters on free movement of workers and on consumer and health protection.
This is a clear sign of sustained reform progress and commitment to the European path. 🇲🇪🇪🇺

🇷🇴România a susținut statele vecine încă de la începutul acestui proces și va continua să le stea alături cu expertiză și sprijin multisectorial pe tot parcursul lor european.

🇪🇺Toate statele membre au agreat astăzi deschiderea negocierilor de aderare cu Republica Moldova și Ucraina.

România va fi mai protejată şi mai prosperă printre vecini care sunt pe același drum european, mai sigură decât ar fi dacă Rusia ar fi cea care decide viitorul țărilor de la granițele noastre.

Este un rezultat al mai multor generații de lideri politici şi de diplomați dar mai ales un moment istoric bazat pe aspirația nezdruncinată a oamenilor la un viitor mai bun şi mai sigur, unul pentru care România le este prieten de nădejde 🇷🇴

I welcome today's results of the North Atlantic Council meeting at #NATO Headquarters in Brussels, dedicated to the security situation in the Black Sea, a topic of great importance for Romania and for NATO. Allies firmly expressed their solidarity with Romania following recent drone incidents.
Russia’s war against Ukraine continues to create major risks for Euro-Atlantic security, particularly in the #BlackSea, a region of strategic importance for the Alliance.
It is therefore important that NATO strengthen its presence and capabilities in Romania, including in the area of countering aerial and maritime drones. Romania once again emphasized the need for additional contributions from Allies and highlighted that our country has important initiatives, projects and procurements underway in this regard.
During the discussion, it was agreed to accelerate NATO projects on responding to drone threats, so that support measures for affected Allies can be approved at the Ankara Summit.
Black Sea security is also essential for protecting critical infrastructure and strategic energy projects such as Neptun Deep, which contributes to Europe’s energy resilience. This topic was part of today’s discussion.
Romania will continue to work together with Allies for a safer Black Sea and a better defended Eastern Flank.
