I’m genuinely baffled by the customer experience at @sleepme.
My wife and I want to purchase a $3,000+ Chilipad system during the Labor Day sale. We have a $500 American Express gift card we received as a wedding gift and simply want to apply that $500 toward the purchase and put the remaining ~$2,500+ on our credit card.
Apparently, that’s not possible.
I’ve called twice trying to find a solution and was told Sleepme cannot accept the gift card or split the transaction between two payment methods.
For a company selling a premium $3,000+ consumer product, how is there no way to accommodate something this basic?
Most people don’t casually spend $3,000+ on a mattress cooling system. We’ve decided this is something we value and are willing to splurge on, and we’re literally trying to give you our money.
Consumers shouldn’t need to have thousands of dollars available on a single payment method just because your checkout system can’t accommodate a split transaction.
@Sleepme, I WANT to buy your product today. I have $500 available on an Amex gift card and am ready to put the entire remaining balance on my credit card.
Can someone please help me actually make the purchase?
I’m at my breaking point with @BestBuy. What should have been two straightforward appliance purchases for rental properties has turned into weeks of failed installations, missed appointments, unexpected charges, broken promises, and countless calls to customer support.
A thread 🧵
1/ At my Idaho property, Best Buy installed a new refrigerator incorrectly. The door made a loud noise, requiring another service visit and my property manager + tenants to empty the refrigerator and rearrange their schedules again.
2/ The technician “fixed” the noise by removing washers, but that left the doors uneven and the freezer drawer not closing properly. Best Buy agreed to replace it because the original model was unavailable and told me the replacement would be price matched.
That promise wasn’t honored.
3/ Instead, I was ultimately required to pay another ~$300 toward a refrigerator that was only needed because of the original installation problems.
Replacement scheduled for Sept. 9. My property manager rearranged her schedule. Tenants emptied the refrigerator.
Nobody showed up. No notification.
4/ I rescheduled. I called @BestBuy AGAIN to specifically confirm the new appointment. I was assured it was happening.
My property manager rearranged her schedule AGAIN. My tenants began emptying the refrigerator AGAIN.
Then I received an automated text saying it needs to be rescheduled AGAIN.
5/ Meanwhile, at my Arlington, VA property, I purchased a dishwasher from Best Buy including delivery, installation and haul-away.
The third-party installer arrived and suddenly told me I needed to pay another $185 for electrical work AND that he didn’t have the mounting hardware needed to install the dishwasher.
So that installation couldn’t happen either.
6/ Two properties. Two appliances. Multiple failed installations/service appointments. Unexpected additional costs. A missed appointment with no notification. Another appointment cancelled after I specifically called to confirm it. And hours spent repeating the same story to support representatives.
This is exhausting.
7/ @BestBuy, I’ve spent thousands of dollars with your company and have made every reasonable effort to resolve these issues privately through customer service.
At this point, I need someone who can actually take ownership of BOTH cases and get them resolved. Who can help?
@AviancaNAM how do you lose a whole plane load of bags?!?! Waited almost two hours for our bags which caused many people to miss their flights. Never flying with you again!
