Upon seeing this the British put to a stop to it but the natives refused and said it’s their national custom

The British General said:

“Be it so, but it’s our nation’s custom to hang men who burn widows alive and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.”

Colonialism was a common grace of God that brought the Gospel to the most remote parts of the world and ended countless evils
