POLOKWANE - Musician Khutšo 'King Monada' Kgatle, actor Cornet Mamabolo and comedian Mashabela Galane star in a new and exciting youth movie.

The three media personalities star in a movie 'Studying under a barrel of a gun' - Mamabolo playing the role of activist, Peter Mokaba.

The Youth movie debuted in cinemas on Friday, 12 June - with the official premiere at Ster Kinekor Mall of the North in Bendor, Polokwane.

Studying Under the Barrel of a Gun is a 2026 South African political-psychological drama film that tells the story of the student resistance movement against the apartheid military occupation of the University of Limpopo, formerly known as Turfloop, in the late 1980s.

The film, which premiered on June 12, 2026, was adapted from the real-life memoir of Ernest Khosa, the university's Student Representative Council (SRC) President during the 1988/1989 and 1989/1990 terms

The film, while unearthing raw talent, also stars seasoned actors such as Nthati Moshesh, Arthur Molepo, Molefi Monaisa, Nathaniel (Nat) Ramabulana, King Monada, Mashabela Galane, and Cornet Mamabolo.

The movie is Directed and produced by multi-award-winning filmmaker, Tebogo Malope.
