This is Eagles OL Tyler Steen at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
His grandfather, Sgt. Rodney M. Davis, jumped on a grenade in Vietnam to save five fellow Marines.
Davis was awarded the Medal of Honor.
This Memorial Day, his story deserves to be told. 🇺🇸
Elon Musk just defended America better than every politician in Washington combined.
Musk: “After World War 2, the US could have basically taken over the world and any country. Like we got nukes, nobody else got nukes. We don’t even have to lose soldiers. Which country do you want?”
One nation on earth held a weapon nobody else had.
Total dominance. Zero competition. No risk of retaliation.
Every empire in history that held that kind of advantage used it.
Rome. The Mongols. The British. The Ottomans.
They conquered until they collapsed.
America had a bigger advantage than all of them combined.
And it rebuilt the countries it just defeated.
Musk: “The United States actually helped rebuild countries. So it helped rebuild Europe, it helped rebuild Japan. This is very unusual behavior, almost unprecedented.”
Almost unprecedented?
It had never happened before. Not once in 5,000 years of recorded history.
The Marshall Plan wasn’t foreign aid.
It was the most radical act of restraint any superpower ever committed.
America turned its enemies into allies. Turned rubble into economies. Turned surrender into partnership.
Germany went from ashes to the economic engine of Europe in a generation.
Japan went from unconditional surrender to the third largest economy on earth.
Three years after the war, America was flying food into Berlin.
A city in the heart of the nation that just tried to destroy it.
That’s not policy.
That’s a civilization deciding what it is at the exact moment it has the power to be anything.
You’re being told a story right now.
That America is the villain of history.
You hear it everywhere. Media. Universities. Social platforms.
Musk: “There’s always like, well America’s done bad things. Well of course America’s done bad things, but one needs to look at the whole track record.”
Every nation on earth has dark chapters. Every single one.
The difference is what a country does when nobody can stop it.
And when nobody could stop America, it fed its enemies and rebuilt their cities.
Musk: “The history of China suggests that China is not acquisitive. Meaning they’re not going to go out and invade a whole bunch of countries.”
Probably right.
China has historically built walls, not fleets.
But the real question isn’t about borders anymore.
We’re approaching a moment that mirrors 1945 in ways nobody has fully processed yet.
AI is going to give a handful of people a power advantage that makes nuclear monopoly look quaint.
If someone is going to hold that kind of power, who do you want it to be?
The country that conquered when it could? Or the one that rebuilt when it didn’t have to?
Every alliance. Every trade route. Every economy.
Billions lifted out of poverty.
All of it traces back to one act of restraint that had never been done before.
And carries no guarantee of being repeated.
The most powerful thing America ever did wasn’t building the bomb.
It was what it didn’t do after.

Heartbroken to learn of the passing of my dear friend and teammate, Shane Knight. Shane was an immensely talented basketball player at BYU, with a unique combination of length, athleticism, and a silky smooth jumpshot. For 3 years, Shane and I competed directly for a starting spot and playing time, but never once did I feel anything but love, support and friendship from him. Shane was fun and cool and just an incredible guy to be around. Most of my favorite college memories involved Shane.
And he was tough. The only "fight" I've ever been in was when some guy decided to mix it up with Shane in a summer game. I knew he would have my back, so I wasn't gonna let him go it alone. I don't think I was much help. After basketball, Shane became incredibly successful as an entrepreneur and businessman. I loved spending time in his beautiful homes and playing with his awesome toys. Every bed and mattress our extended familty ever owned was courtesy of the Knight "friends and family" discount. Most importantly, he was a great husband to his sweet companion Mary and has three incredible, strapping boys, who adored their father. And he loved them. I can't believe he's gone. I ache for his family. He leaves a wonderful legacy that only comes from a well lived life. Goodbye, my friend.
We’re only two days into the Olympics, and I’m seeing multiple USA athletes in press conferences trying to distance themselves from the flag, instead choosing to prioritize representation of their family, friends and personal causes.
You compete for your country, not a crusade.
I was recently at a sacrament meeting for a branch comprising those who have been released from prison and are now transitioning back into normal life.
We discussed how, because of the Savior’s infinite Atonement, forgiveness of sin is absolutely available. At times, the Lord requires our patience and humility as we wait upon His full approval “by degrees” (Mosiah 21:16).
While the power of the Savior is so present in the forgiveness of sin, the Atonement of Jesus Christ is the spiritual miracle needed to heal the serious wounds caused by the sins of others. Forgiveness and relief from the pain of injustice are both found in Jesus Christ.
For you who have been unfairly injured by the serious sins of another, I long to share the Savior’s love and compassion, His comfort and peace.
The sadness you have felt, the heartbreak, the loss, the suffocating feeling of betrayal, the upending of your life as you imagined it to be—I give you my absolute assurance, the Savior knows you and loves you.
Reach out to Him. He is your comfort and strength; He will send His angels to bear you up. When will your pain be gone, your grief subdued, the unwanted memories forgotten? I do not know.
But this I do know: Jesus Christ has the power to bring beauty from the ashes of your suffering (see Isaiah 61:3).
In preparing a book that was recently published, I took the occasion to reflect anew on the teachings I have emphasized throughout my service as a General Authority.
In doing so, I have felt deep gratitude for the great, unchanging fundamentals of the gospel—our knowledge of the Savior Jesus Christ, the priesthood of God, and the plan of salvation. This doctrine has anchored my life and direction.
As we increase our understanding of these foundational truths and live according to them, our love for the Savior will grow. I testify that He is our Redeemer, the light and life of the world.
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland spent his entire life sharing the love and divinity of Jesus Christ. His warmth and humor is how I imagine the Savior would speak to us. How do you thank someone who makes you feel that kind of love? May our Father in Heaven bless his family! 🙏
I cherish this tender moment of then BYU President Holland and I after the last game of my Senior year. His example changed my life.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland was a towering leader of faith—and one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known.
Years ago at a BYU football game he looked at me, smiled, and said, “You washed up good.” 💙
When I was called as a bishop, his counsel changed my life:
“Decide how many hours you’ll give to your calling—then go home and be a great dad and husband.”
He taught me that you can serve the Lord with power without ever sacrificing your highest calling.
His voice shaped generations—and shaped me. He will be deeply missed.
60 years ago, a devastating accident took the lives of BYU football fans traveling to Provo for a game. But out of tragedy grew a legacy of faith and resilience.
Huge shoutout to Colby Rollins & Dave Fields @Snowbird for making our @BYUfootball celebration unforgettable! Cougar Nation rolling to Cincinnati! Go Cougs!
The passing of former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue made me reflect on the week we spent together in China. He was brilliant, loved the players, knew the history, and respected everyone he met. I loved him. My prayers are with his wife, Chan, and their family.@NFL@Eagles
All I can say is… wow! Nancy and I and the whole Murphy family are just blown away by this. Thank you to all you fans who organized and put the work in to make this. I’m so overwhelmed and humbled by your kindness and support.
