A cloudy start then rain spreading in from the SW during the morning, some heavy but clearing for the afternoon. Becoming windy once again and we slip into a warm sector so temperatures rising.

Sunny spells & some blustery showers as planned this morning but the notable feature is the wind still with 50-60mph gusts.

The wind will begin to ease slowly from mid-afternoon onwards with gusts back to 30-40mph by this evening then fading overnight. #StormBoelo

A very windy day with locally severe gales, especially in exposure and along the coast.

The strongest winds of the day will have come during the early hours but it will still howl until evening.

@SteveHeighway1 @joshc2401 @mikegervais @LFC If they postpone it will be a health & safety decision like you say. Worst of the winds were in the night but still gusting 40-50mph this afternoon, something we've seen before and games weren't called off.

You're not comparing like-for-like there in terms of wind values.

The first one shows wind gusts as the values you see (normally average speeds) switch to gusts on the BBC app when gusts go over 39mph.

The second image doesn't predict any gusts over 39mph so the values displayed stay at the average speed. Stupid I know.

The Met Office website shows average and gusts whatever the speed.
