BLOCKED: A Maryland court just shut down Democrats' attempt to add a congressional redistricting initiative to the November ballot — ruling they violated their own state deadlines for ballot measures.

Democrats already control seven of Maryland's eight congressional districts. The proposed constitutional amendment would have removed the requirement that districts be compact and follow "natural boundaries," clearing the way to redraw the lone Republican-held district ahead of 2028.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani is under fire after publicly mourning the death of a Rikers Island inmate who was charged with hacking a man to death with meat cleavers in an unprovoked Bronx laundromat attack.

Clarence Woodward had 27 prior arrests and had been paroled just one month before the alleged killing. Mamdani called his death in custody deeply saddening and vowed to close Rikers Island "as quickly as possible."

Michigan's own Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel is publicly ripping her party's U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed for what she calls making excuses for domestic terrorism — specifically his response to the Hezbollah-inspired attack on Temple Israel synagogue where a gunman sought to kill over 100 pre-K schoolchildren.

Nessel says El-Sayed's statement amounted to rationalizing the attempted massacre. She says he has privately expressed regret but still refuses to publicly retract the remarks months later, leaving her "concerned that he really stands by them."

Nessel also warned of "an enormous amount of anti-Semitism within the Democratic Party" and said she doesn't feel safe attending her own state party's convention as a Jewish person.

A Minnesota judge sentenced two men to prison for their roles in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme — a fake child nutrition program that stole $7.3 million in COVID relief funds meant to feed thousands of kids in the Twin Cities.

Ahmed Ghedi got over five years. Abdihakim Ahmed got four and a half. Instead of feeding children, prosecutors say they used taxpayer money to buy cars, property, and kick cash back to a Feeding Our Future employee. The judge ordered both to pay millions in restitution.

Their sentencing follows the conviction of mastermind Amee Bock, who received nearly 42 years in prison for orchestrating $250 million in pandemic relief fraud. The sprawling investigation has led to dozens of convictions and spurred the Trump administration's surge of federal officers to Minneapolis-St. Paul last winter.

A Soros-backed prosecutor in Fairfax County is facing recall effort after a grieving mother says he let an illegal immigrant with 30 prior arrests walk free — before the man allegedly stabbed her daughter to death at a bus stop.

Cheryl Minter has gathered more than 12,000 signatures to remove Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano, saying her daughter Stephanie's killing was "the predictable consequence of decisions made by Descano." The suspect, Abdul Jalloh from Sierra Leone, had convictions for malicious wounding, identity theft, trespassing, assault, and a prior charge for forcible rape.

Minter says this isn't an isolated failure — it's a pattern. And she's pushing to make the recall a message to soft-on-crime prosecutors nationwide.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rejoined the Democratic Socialists of America this month after her membership had lapsed for seven years.

DHS fired 3 more FEMA workers after an inspector general report found crews deliberately skipped homes displaying pro-Trump signs during Hurricane Milton disaster relief in Florida.

The terminations follow the earlier firing of a FEMA supervisor who instructed personnel to avoid homes with Trump signage in Lake Placid, Florida, in 2024. DHS says its Office of Professional Responsibility found the three employees "failed to meet FEMA's standards of conduct."

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin: "Our job is to protect the American people, regardless of their political beliefs. This is especially important when it comes to disaster relief, where every second counts and lives are on the line."
