Re: End preferential treatment for non-citizen offenders — equal justice for Canadian citizens
Prime Minister Carney and Ministers:
As a taxpaying Canadian citizen I am writing about a clear and repeated double standard in our justice system.
Non-citizens and permanent residents who commit serious crimes — dangerous driving causing death, repeated child sexual offences, violent assaults, and organized crime — routinely receive lighter sentences, conditional sentences, or house arrest specifically to avoid deportation. Courts openly consider “collateral immigration consequences.” The result is that offenders stay in Canada. Meanwhile, Canadian citizens who defend their property or engage in peaceful political expression often face the full force of the law and selective enforcement.
This is not equal justice. It prioritizes non-citizens who break our laws over the safety of the citizens who fund this country.
Your government and the previous Liberal government have appointed the large majority of current federal judges and the overwhelming majority of sitting senators. The Governor General and RCMP Commissioner are also government appointments. These appointments shape the institutions that interpret and apply the law. Combined with current bail, sentencing, and immigration policies, the outcome is leniency for certain offenders and severity for others.
I demand the following:
1. End the practice of reducing sentences or imposing conditional sentences primarily to avoid deportation. Non-citizens and permanent residents who commit serious crimes must face the same proportionate sentence a Canadian citizen would receive. If that sentence triggers removal under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, remove them.
2. Prioritize the deportation of non-citizen criminal offenders. Make removal the default after conviction for serious offences. Stop allowing asylum claims or procedural delays to keep dangerous individuals in Canada.
3. Apply the law equally. Whether bail for repeat violent offenders, enforcement of public assembly rules, or defence of property, Canadian citizens must not be treated more harshly than non-citizens who break the law.
4. Stop the selective rhetoric and policy agenda that treats citizens as the problem while shielding non-citizen offenders. Focus resources on actual criminality, border integrity, and public safety.
Canada is not a hotel. Citizenship and permanent residency carry obligations. When those obligations are breached through criminal conduct, the response must be removal — not accommodation.
The people who pay the taxes and obey the laws are done accepting a system that protects the wrong people. Enforce the law equally, remove non-citizen criminals, and restore full protection for Canadian citizens under their own laws.
I expect a substantive response outlining the concrete steps your government will take.

To the Liberal government and Prime Minister Carney:
We are the people who get up every day and actually work for a living. Two incomes in most households just to keep the lights on, the mortgage or rent paid, and food on the table. We are not on the receiving end of the programs you keep announcing. We are the ones paying for them.
Our expectations are simple:
• Get a real trade deal with the United States that protects Canadian jobs in auto, steel, aluminum, manufacturing, farming, and the supply chains that keep this country running.
• Stop treating the working middle as an afterthought while you chase green announcements, international prestige, and long-term ideological goals.
• Recognize that over-regulation, high taxes, energy costs, and years of weak investment have already left too many businesses hanging by a thread. More tariffs on top of that will break them.
• Put the interests of the people who generate the tax revenue ahead of the desire to look tough or to protect every sacred cow in the system.
What we are feeling is not mild disappointment. It is utter frustration.
You inherited and then deepened an industrial investment collapse. You watched capital leave the country. You kept expanding the public sector while the private sector that pays for it struggled. You talk about growth and then deliver technical recession and record-low machinery investment. And now, with a hard deadline hours away, the working public is left hoping you finally put aside your preferred agenda long enough to secure a deal that keeps plants open and people employed.
We do not need another announcement. We do not need more lectures about the long game. We need a government that understands the people who work for a living are not a talking point — they are the foundation. Act like it.
The clock is running. So is our patience.
