You didn't report on the other result. The GPT Tutor cohort had the same results as the non-AI assisted students on the exam.

Meaning that AI assisted learning at least doesn't harm student's learning, but it has to be done correctly. It can't be an out of the box AI, it has to be one that is trained to help students learn.

Also, the GPT Tutor they used wasn't a very sophisticated AI tutor. It just had a specific prompt. An AI trained properly to be a real tutor would probably help exam scores.
