A police operation has raised several questions regarding the active narcotics trade in the city.

The police have arrested two sisters found in possession of 'smack' (heroin) and a large amount of cash.

The seizure was not limited to the contraband alone; the police also recovered a sum of money believed, based on the preliminary investigation, to be proceeds from the sale of the drug.

Acting on Sunday, the City Kotwali police arrested Rahnuma (alias Noori) and her sister Tabassum, residents of Mohalla Mirdgan (B-10).

A total of 111.54 grams of smack was recovered from their possession. Its estimated market value is around ₹1.50 lakh.

According to the police, the recovered smack consisted of 50.35 grams in lump form and 61.19 grams in the form of small bits and packets.

Additionally, ₹88,950 in cash was seized from the accused.

The police claim that this money was obtained through the sale of narcotics.
