paving the way doesnt always mean the first to win an award, it means the one who makes impact where it matters and allows for those who follow in their footsteps to be seen and treated fairly too. that is what bts are doing, and that takes courage

K-pop fans naively believe the Recording Academy will treat their favs fairly and not be racist to them and laughing at BTS’s decision, failing to realize that their favs simply aren’t as big or to that scale to be perceived as a threat to the Western music industry yet.

laugh all you want, but we are under the same hood you like it or not. & as for the statement from the boys, that’s a statement for ALL of the kpop industry. it set a precedent that protects and shapes the entire K-pop industry. bc the industry will remain xenophobic and racist to YOU all. BTS are the undisputed outliers of the k-industry, and your favs know and believe that too. BTS just shielded the broader genre from the institutional racism and xenophobia they themselves had to fight through, establishing a blueprint that ultimately benefits and elevates everyone in the market. because they have a backbone! You must know what opting out of the Grammys really mean before making a statement.

If there’s no BTS, there’s no scope for your favs either. well, there is actually.. a category that BTS paved the way for.
