@KenHomanSJ Hi! Such beautiful craftsmanship! Are there any left? There are two people in my life who would benefit (one card, one candle), if available!
My friend @SSawyerSJ was just welcomed as the 15th Editor in Chief in @americamag's century-plus history.
He's a great choice because, of all the ppl I know, Sam is the one who most unifies often-contradictory virtues. He's brilliant & patient, open hearted & incisive. 🧵 1/
Congratulations to Fr. Sam Sawyer, S.J. (right) and Mr. Traug Keller (center) who assumed leadership today of @americamag as Editor in Chief (Sam) and President (Traug). Sam, Traug and their team help explain the world to the Church and the Church to the world. #AMDG
@jamiedgravell @Cati_Fu @Nicole_Mirra @anterobot I don’t have many opportunities to discuss it with students - my job isn’t ed tech or civics focused — but I’m happy to stay in dialogue about it! I write about this a bit and my thinking could definitely go deeper.
@jamiedgravell I should know other scholars to draw upon, but I haven’t read enough (or found enough) in the crossover between those who are writing about digital citizenship (and questioning that construct) and those who argue for using other terms. Fitzgerald et al (2021) might get there?
@jamiedgravell I applaud you! I think (as weird as this feels to me, because we aren’t the giants of the field) we should be trying to shift the language here. We are way beyond online safety. Online is part of the civic sphere - and moving between the online and offline is fluid, civically.
From @Chapmaab, ‘Social Media for Civic Education’ provides the theoretical and pedagogical foundations for a promising new approach to civic education: using social media to teach civics. https://t.co/cUnCdvHg49
