Also, the moment you start a question with, “are we ready to talk about” you’re setting it up as a contrarian/unwelcome point of view, which rarely is a useful starting point.
Sexuality isn’t all about the physical act of sex. People being fixated on the “who” and the “what” of sex, often blocks us from having useful/expansive conversations about sexuality as a whole.

Useful framing for the knee-jerk reactions that often come with the word “queer.”
Although, I wish bell hooks had used slightly different language here, I also understand why she framed it this way…
