I think we underestimate how important it is to choose a partner whose lifestyle is compatible with yours. Love matters, attraction matters, chemistry matters. But eventually you’re sharing mornings, weekends, money, habits, families, stress, health, responsibilities and thousands of ordinary decisions. You’re not only choosing a person. You’re choosing a way of living.
I’ve learned to stay away from people who bring out the mean, reactive or chaotic side of me. Not because I’m incapable of handling them, but because I know that version of me isn’t who I want to be. If a connection constantly pulls me away from my peace and brings out a side of myself I don’t recognise, I’d rather walk away. Protecting your peace means protecting the person you’re becoming.
You can tell a lot about a person by what they do after hurting you. Some apologize. Some reflect. Some change. And some will rewrite the entire story in their head just to avoid feeling guilty. Accountability is rare because protecting the ego is easier than becoming better.
Remember, tables always turn. One day, the pain you caused will find its way back to you, louder and heavier than you ever imagined. And when that day comes, don't forget that someone endured it, rose from it, and became stronger because of it. It won't be because they wished it on you, but because karma never forgets.
I’ll NEVER be in a relationship where arguing every day feels normal. I can’t do that anymore. I'll laugh with you everyday. Talk with you everyday. Build with you everyday. Listen to you everyday. But we’re not arguing. We’re not yelling. We’re not tryna be “RIGHT” in the situation. We not saying "I'm sorry” just to say sorry again. We not playing victim every single day. We growing up over here & we are going to communicate like adults📌.
Relationships can survive mistakes, but they can't survive patterns. Apologies lose meaning when actions never change. Everyone makes mistakes. Real love understands that people are human, imperfect, and sometimes get things wrong. But there's a difference between a mistake and a habit. A mistake is something you regret and work to correct. A pattern is something you keep doing while expecting forgiveness every time.
@skill_of_life Doing hard things does make you wiser, but only if you’re honest about the cost. Hard things don’t just build confidence, they also expose your blind spots fast, which is why they’re such a good teacher
Patience is not a character flaw and it is not an invitation. It is a choice made by someone who genuinely believes in people and gives them the room to be human, to make mistakes, and to grow. But there is a difference between absorbing someone's humanity and absorbing their disrespect, and a person who has spent time understanding their own worth knows exactly where that line is drawn even when they do not say it out loud. The quiet ones are often the most certain of their boundaries. They just do not announce them in advance.
When the pattern becomes undeniable, when the apologies stop carrying any real weight, and when continuing to show up starts to feel like a betrayal of yourself, the withdrawal begins. Not dramatically, not loudly, but completely. And that silence is not passive. It is the most deliberate and powerful response available to someone who has decided they are no longer available for what is being offered. If you have ever been on the receiving end of that silence from someone who was once endlessly patient with you, you already know it is not nothing. It is everything.
Despite how much I may like you, miss you, love you, and even want to be with you, I cannot accept anymore stagnancy in my life. I crave growth, accountability, emotional maturity, respect, support, and overall genuine love. If you cannot do that, I will not entertain the situation.
You think you found a calm, chill guy... until you realize he's not calm at all.
He's just a dismissive avoidant who doesn't know how to communicate like an adult.
I love being the kind of woman you don’t come across twice. Not because of how I look, but because of how I love, how I think, and how I move. In a world full of temporary energy, I am intentional. Solid. Rare.
Adult friendships require so much grace. People are very busy. People are healing. People are growing. People are taking time for self care just like you. Less communication isn't less love. Check in not out💛
