@teachbk We were trained on Assertive Discipline by Lee Canter in the 1980s. It was humiliating for students. They are now our adult parents. We are teaching their children now. Is it any wonder that parents don’t trust teachers and discipline is such a big problem?
@Family_viralvid Some say it was a scam. You never know. But for the man’s heart to extend his wallet to help, he is pleasing the Lord. If it was a scam, the gift of kindness won’t be lost on the child.
@getSTEAMedup Yes! The upper management think they have to assign us things to do and reports to fill in order to justify their position. Which means they don’t have enough to do themselves, so they sit around making up more work for us.
@SarahLena Oh. My. GOD! Let him come and teach for just 1 full day and be responsible for 7 kids with IEPs, 9 English Language Learners, in the recovery period after COVID Pandemic and school shutdowns! Come on Tubs! Let’s see you try!
@spencerideas My first 10 years it was just like a dream! Teachers became friends who shared planning, divided up the work to get prepared, and yes, we went to happy hour on Fridays! Data comparison changed that. Teachers are competing.
Why teachers leave has been well-documented. The word that comes up again and again is unsustainable. The pay and workload are unsustainable. The emotional toll and the impact on physical and mental health are unsustainable. @ByEmilyTate@EdSurge

When the 100-point grading scale emerged in the 1830s, scores centered around 50.
Decades later, it merged with A-F grades, shifting the scale upwards.
The end result? A lopsided scale that's "heavily gamed" against students.

@JoJoFromJerz Yes! Both of my shoulders “froze” after surgery and having it immobilized for 6 weeks. Physical therapy was the cure to break up that atrophy in the muscles. Although it was terribly painful, it proved to work. It took a full year after pt ended with continued work at home.
5 tips to reduce stress of staff.
1) if asking to meet with staff member, let them know why.
2) Don't address an issue you have with one person with the whole staff.
3) praise a lot more than you critique
4) fewer meetings
5) continual encouragement, support, and praise.
There are no natural boundaries between human beings on this earth, we are one family. At a time of increasing natural disasters, climate change and global warming affect all of us. We must learn to live together, to work together, and to share what we have together.
