URA fined Shs 1.66bn after auctioning Shs 1.4bn medical equipment at Shs 4m

The medical equipment unlawfully disposed of by URA had been donated to Babaana Children of Uganda Ltd by persons in Switzerland and was intended to support improved access to modern health services in Uganda.

The consignment comprised high-tech medical equipment, including dental surgery equipment, rehabilitation hospital equipment, and gynaecology practice equipment.

Justice Namanya also questioned how goods valued at Shs 1.46 billion were sold as worn clothes for only Shs 4 million without any satisfactory explanation.

🚨UPDATE: A few years ago, Uganda Government through Ministry of works and Transport introduced what they termed as "Digital Number plates"

According to the government the essence of introducing digital number plates was to fight criminality because they are trackable/monitored.

Digital number plates (ITMS) in Uganda cost UGX 714,300 for new vehicle registration. For existing vehicle owners replacing their old plates, the cost is UGX 150,000 for cars and UGX 50,000 for motorcycles.

Now thugs stole someone's number plates when he reported the case to police and URA here is the response he got👇
