BREAKING: Rep. Jamie Raskin demolishes Trump over his idiotic "Triumphal Arch" project, which he now claims will be a “top grade military complex” that hosts snipers and drones.

And the congressman came packing a knockout punch...

“Does Trump understand no one wants his stupid arch? Dressing it up as a military necessity doesn’t help," Raskin wrote on X. America is sick of the military being used as an excuse for Trump’s architectural whims and narcissistic fancies."

Nobody outside of the most gullible MAGA supporters believes that D.C. actually needs some kind of elaborate arch, armed to the teeth, and stocked with ammunition. This is a transparent attempt on Trump's part to gussy up a wasteful vanity project as an urgent national security need. He's been making similar claims about his White House ballroom.

“Congress will never support this idiocy, but if you want to know what’s actually unique about Washington, it’s that it’s the only national capital on planet Earth not represented in its own legislature,” Raskin added. “Why don’t we talk about D.C. statehood instead of this arch-imbecility?”

This is a much better D.C.-related proposal but Republicans adamantly oppose it because they're terrified of Democrats gaining new seats. Even so, the case for statehood is exceptionally strong. Why shouldn't the capital — which has a population of roughly 693,000 people — receive equal representation in the House and Senate? Wyoming has just 588,000 people and it exerts enormous influence on national legislation through its elected officials.

But instead of debating a real issue like statehood, we're going to get stuck discussing Trump's asinine Triumphal Arch. Pop quiz: which triumph exactly is he celebrating? He's been inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris which was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte, seen by many historians as the greatest general who ever lived, after his victory at Battle of Austerlitz.

Trump has no such victories. His disastrous Iran War has turned into perhaps the greatest strategic defeat in the history of the U.S. military. Iran is stronger than ever, exerting direct control over the Strait of Hormuz, and American munitions have been all but exhausted. Closer to home, he has been waging an illegal war and blowing up so-called "drug smugglers" which in many cases have turned out to be innocent fisherman.

Despite his delusions to the contrary, Donald Trump is not some conquering caesar bestriding a world that quakes in his shadow. He's a demented old pedophile knee-deep in failure.
