God of justice, Father of truth, who guide creation in wisdom and goodness to fulfillment in Christ your Son, open our hearts to the truth of his Gospel, that your peace may rule in our hearts and your justice guide our lives. - Collect Prayer from the Mass for Independence Day
“Peter, through unrighteous envy, endured not one or two, but numerous labours; and when he had at length suffered martyrdom, departed to the place of glory due to him…Paul also obtained the reward having taught righteousness to the whole world…and suffered martyrdom.”
Led by Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune, members of our parish and community celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi today. The procession through the streets of downtown Charleston proclaimed the real presence in the Holy Eucharist. #Jesus#Eucharist#Catholic#Charleston
Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.” #Jesus#CorpusChristi
"And this food is called among us Εὐχαριστία [the Eucharist]...For not as common bread and common drink do we receive these....we {have} been taught that the food which is blessed by the prayer of His word...is the flesh and blood of that Jesus who was made flesh."
@USCCB
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you."
And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the holy Spirit.
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.” #Pentecost
When he had said this, as they were looking on,
he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight.
While they were looking intently at the sky as he was going,
suddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them.
They said, “Men of Galilee,
why are you standing there looking at the sky?
This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven
will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”
Acts 1:1-11

He said to them, “Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Behold, the place where they laid him.“ - Mark 16:6

Christ became obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name which is above every other name.
Philippians 2:8-9
It is at the Last Supper that we receive the greatest gift — the body and blood of Christ. From that moment forward, we break bread with Jesus every time we participate in the holy Mass. He is truly present with us, loving us and giving himself for us!

The crowds preceding him and those following
kept crying out and saying:
"Hosanna to the Son of David;
blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord;
hosanna in the highest."
And when he entered Jerusalem
the whole city was shaken and asked, "Who is this?"
And the crowds replied,
"This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth in Galilee."
