This year would be my 12th time participating in #NaNoWriMo. But, with the way they've mishandled all of these controversies for the past two years and destroyed the community, there's no point. I'll be writing 50,000 words in November, but not through the NaNo organization.
I decided not to make my annual donation in 2023. Then, as we all know, everything imploded. With everything that happened last year, the closing of the forums, and how the organization has handled it so far, I can't in good conscience participate in the official event anymore.
#NaNoWriMo was a yearly tradition I've always looked forward to. Writing a novel alongside thousands of others, cheering each other on. The forums made me feel like part of the community. But, the organization has lost its charm.
I saw Daughtry, Staind, and Breaking Benjamin last night. As a fan of Breaking Benjamin and #Halo, I loved seeing the Halo HUD on the screen at the show during their performance of “Blow Me Away.” Nice nod to Halo 2
Saw some golden larches during my midweek hike! I’ve never seen them before, so it was a great time, even if most are still light green.

I haven't done much hiking and exploring so far this year, other than my road trip down to the Redwoods. But, I've been going up to Seattle every month and making new friends, which I really wanted to prioritize this year.
I've also been running in the mornings, which is nice.
Things that didn’t happen tonight:
- Seeing the aurora borealis for a second night in a row
Things that did happen tonight in search of the northern lights:
- Almost getting sprayed by a skunk
- Listening to coyotes in the distance
- Admiring the stars
